• Old School WCW Referee Would Have Celebrated His Birthday

Today would have been the 60th birthday of Old School WCW Referee Randy Anderson.

Randy Anderson was a professional wrestling referee during the 70s, 80s & 90s, working for several territories such as Mid-South Wrestling, Championship Wrestling from Florida and Jim Crockett Promotions.

When Ted Turner bought Jim Crockett Promotions in late 1988 and renamed it World Championship Wrestling, Randy stayed with the promotion until 1999.

If you watched WCW Monday Nitro in 1997, you will probably remember when Eric Bischoff fired him (storyline wise).

• SmackDown Reunion Plan Possibly Spoiled Because Of Next Week’s RAW Reunion

The biggest RAW Reunion in history will take place on the July 22nd edition of Monday Night RAW from the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, WWE is doing a RAW reunion because the USA Network isn’t happy with RAW’s recent viewership.

Below is what Meltzer noted:

“USA [Network] is very disappointed with the numbers. They made a bunch of suggestions and one of them was the RAW Reunion show.”

In an update to this, Meltzer is reporting that next week’s RAW Reunion show might have spoiled plans for a SmackDown Reunion that WWE was planning to do later this year for the 20th anniversary of SmackDown:

“SmackDown’s 20th Anniversary is coming up very soon. SmackDown is gonna have their first show on FOX very soon. The original idea for the first SmackDown on Fox was essentially this (Reunion) show.

Now I suppose they could do it twice, but after doing it in July coming back and doing the same type of a show by bringing all the legends back in October — you know, I guess you could do it just because it’s the debut on FOX and this is Network television and it’s kinda weird to do it that way so I don’t know if they’ll do another one like that.”
