• SmackDown Roster Going To India – Date Revealed For The WWE Event
WWE will be returning to India for a Live Event after 5 years, PWInsider has confirmed.
Only the SmackDown roster is going and it will take place on Wednesday, January 18th 2023.
It is rumored to take place in in Hyderabad, Telangana.
Top names like Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre will be a part of this event. McIntyre recently went to India for promotional work.
In the last decade, WWE toured India on two occasions, in January 2016 & December 2017. Reigns worked both these tours.
For those who don’t know, WWE’s #1 fanbase is from India. A WWE Official said the following about India a few years ago:
“India is one of our top international markets. In terms of audience size, it is our largest.
Something like 89 million Indians watched WrestleMania 33, 50 million Indians watch RAW and SmackDown every week (on Sony Ten 1 and Sony Ten 1 HD).
Sunday Dhamaal has 25 million tuning in. And those are numbers greater than any other international markets we have.”
