• SmackDown Star Is Leaving WWE Tomorrow
SmackDown wrestler Santos Escobar’s time in WWE has come to an end. According to Fightful Select, Escobar’s contract with WWE is set to expire at midnight tonight and he’s not expected to remain with the company. WWE sources told Fightful that while there have been discussions about a possible extension, Escobar has declined the company’s recent offers.
PWInsider added that WWE even offered a contract with a higher salary, but Escobar turned that down as well.
Escobar has been noticeably absent from television in recent months. His most recent appearance came at a WWE Supershow in Mexico on July 27th, marking his last in-ring match with the company to date. Throughout 2025, he’s been used sparingly on TV, and his social media posts have grown increasingly cryptic – fueling speculation about his WWE future.
Before joining WWE, Escobar built a respected reputation internationally. Under the name King Cuerno, he was a standout performer in Lucha Underground, and as El Hijo del Fantasma, he competed for top promotions such as CMLL, AAA, and TNA.
Given his talent and global recognition, insiders believe Escobar will be in high demand when he officially hits free agency.
