Since the emergence of All Elite Wrestling in 2019, many talents have jumped from WWE to AEW.
Some wrestlers wanted to go to Tony Khan’s promotion because they felt like they would get more creative freedom and better booking there, and some just went there because WWE released them and they needed an alternative company to work for.
Some of the names who asked for their release from WWE to go to AEW include FTR and Andrade El Idolo.
WWE released a huge number of wrestlers in 2020 and 2021 to make budget cuts during the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to many former WWE wrestlers being signed by AEW.
Some of those names include Malakai Black, Miro (Rusev), Samoa Joe and Keith Lee.
WWE only got two big names from AEW, which include Cody Rhodes and Jade Cargill. Another notable former AEW wrestler who will soon officially debut on NXT is Brian Pillman Jr.
According to the Wrestling Observer, some former WWE wrestlers in AEW see the company as a minor promotion compared to WWE.
Some stars have given the impression that they can’t wait to go back to WWE if they receive an offer as they see it as the major brand.
Several AEW talents tried to get out of their contracts as they are close to Triple H and wanted to return to WWE to work under him after Vince McMahon retired last year.
