Below are a couple of top AEW news stories of the day, involving Sting.

• During an interview with PWI, WCW Legend Sting was asked which wrestler he wishes he could’ve had a singles match against in AEW.

Sting picked Kenny Omega and praised him a lot. Here’s what The Icon said:

“A lot of wrestling fans thought for sure that Darby was going to turn on me, or that I was going to turn on him! But you know, I would have loved to have had a match against Kenny Omega.

Kenny is legitimate World Champ material. Obviously, he’s been AEW World Champion, but, to me, sometimes how good he is goes under appreciated because he’s never been with WWE.

Some people think he doesn’t deserve his accolades. But he is one of the best all-around World Heavyweight Champions I’ve ever seen, one of the best in the wrestling industry.”

• Sting will officially retire at tonight’s AEW Revolution 2024 pay-per-view.

In the main event, Sting and Darby Allin (accompanied by Ric Flair) will defend the AEW World Tag Team Championship against The Young Bucks in a Tornado Match.

Sting’s longtime friend, WWF / WCW Legend Lex Luger, tweeted the following about Sting’s retirement:

“My how time flys by!!

Tonight is gonna be so special!

Love you my friend ❤️

A fan asked Lex the following:

“Are you going to his retirement match?”

Luger replied with a thumbs up.
