Former Intercontinental Champion Carlito made a shocking appearance at the WWE Backlash premium live event earlier this year to help Bad Bunny in the San Juan Street Fight against Mr. Money In The Bank and Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion Damian Priest.
Over a month after that, the Wrestling Observer reported that the former United States Champion signed with WWE. He was also pulled from all of his bookings with several independent wrestling promotions.
PWInsider reported that he was supposed to return to WWE on the July 7th episode of SmackDown at the Madison Square Garden, but that did not happen as his segment was reportedly nixed due to The Bloodline segment going on for almost 40 minutes on that show.
On tonight’s episode of SmackDown, The Street Profits attacked and injured Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde during Rey Mysterio’s match with Bobby Lashley.
The LWO is set to face Lashley and The Street Profits in a 6-Man Tag Team match tomorrow night at the Fastlane premium live event, but only Mysterio and Santos Escobar are currently available for the match.
Mysterio made a call to a friend during the show as Del Toro and Wilde won’t be available for the match, according to the doctors.
PWInsider is reporting that this angle was done to set up Carlito’s return, who will officially return to WWE at Fastlane tomorrow to team up with Mysterio and Escobar.
