• Spoiler On Another Return At Saturday Night’s Main Event
In just two days, John Cena will step inside the ring for the final time to battle GUNTHER in his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event at the Capital One Arena in Washington D.C.
WrestleVotes previously reported that Jesse Ventura will return to WWE programming this Saturday. In an update, PWInsider reports that World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk will also return to WWE TV on Saturday Night’s Main Event. They also noted that WWE is working on having some surprises for this big event.
Punk was last seen on WWE programming at Survivor Series 2025, where he was pinned by Bron Breakker in the Men’s WarGames Match.
Punk missed last week’s and this week’s RAW. While some may think Punk has been off TV due to his dog Larry’s death, that’s not the case. He is off WWE TV because he’s currently filming for Netflix series “The Bodyguard.”
The Best In The World is scheduled to defend his World Heavyweight Title against Breakker on the first RAW of 2026 on January 5th, which will also be the red brand’s one-year anniversary on Netflix.
On this week’s RAW, Breakker sent the following message to Punk:
“I’m gonna take your World Heavyweight Championship and hell, you know what? While I’m at it, I’ll take your wife too.”

WWE posted a video of the WWE roster’s heartfelt farewell to John Cena, who will retire as an in-ring performer this Saturday.

On last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite: Winter Is Coming (where new champions were crowned), Samoa Joe defeated Eddie Kingston to retain the AEW World Championship in the main event.
Joe paid tribute to John Cena at the end of the match by locking Kingston in the STF and doing a salute.
Cena acknowledged Joe’s tribute by posting the following on Instagram:

• The Rock Has A Message For John Cena Ahead Of Cena’s Retirement
Hollywood’s Golden Globe nominations have brought a major milestone for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The WWE Legend has been nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his role as MMA legend Mark Kerr in the gritty biographical film The Smashing Machine.
This marks a major achievement in his acting career, as he competes alongside acclaimed performers such as Oscar Isaac and Michael B. Jordan in one of the year’s most competitive acting categories.
What makes the news even more notable is that The Smashing Machine also received a second nomination thanks to Johnson’s co-star Emily Blunt, who earned a nod for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her portrayal of Kerr’s partner, Dawn Staples.
Together, their dual recognition reflects strong industry appreciation for the performances in the hard-hitting drama. The 83rd Golden Globe Awards will take place on January 11, 2026.
John Cena posted a graphic about his former 2-time WrestleMania opponent’s achievement on Instagram. The Rock saw it and replied:

WWE also promoted The Final Boss’ Golden Globe nomination on this week’s RAW.
