During today’s AEW Dynamite taping in Manchester, England, MJF returned and interrupted a segment where Samoa Joe, “Hangman” Adam Page, and Swerve Strickland were signing a contract for their AEW World Championship match at Worlds End.

MJF used his Casino Gauntlet contract to force his way into the title match. By signing the contract himself, he turned the upcoming title match into a Fatal 4-Way match.

MJF’s last match took place at All Out, where he lost to Mark Briscoe. He was off AEW TV to film a movie.

• Unplanned Title Change Leads To Rule Changes In WWE NXT

A surprise title win by Thea Hail on the December 16th episode of NXT has forced WWE to scramble. Hail defeated Blake Monroe for the NXT Women’s North American Championship, but sources confirm the finish was completely unplanned.

According to Fightful Select, the mistake happened at a difficult time for the brand. Because NXT was finishing its filming schedule for the year to allow talent a Christmas break, multiple weeks of shows had already been written.

This accidental title change meant that the script of future episodes no longer made sense. Staff members reportedly had to work frantically to edit and correct the information to match the new reality. Even the WWE website briefly showed an error listing Monroe as the winner before being corrected.

Internally, it is believed that Monroe may have had the wind knocked out of her right before she was supposed to kick out. While that hasn’t been officially confirmed, WWE officials decided to “lean into” the mistake.

They quickly created new graphics and blasted the news across social media. A segment where Monroe confronted Hail after the match was also put together on very short notice to help the story.

This incident is leading to a major policy change for NXT wrestlers. In the past, talent could often leave after finishing their specific segments. Now, a higher-up says wrestlers will likely be required to stay until the very end of the tapings to ensure they are available if a mistake needs to be fixed immediately.

While unplanned title wins are rare, they have happened before to stars like Kevin Owens, Mickie James, and Razor Ramon. As for what’s next, a rematch is already being discussed.

Many expect the two to face off again at NXT New Year’s Evil 2026.
