• Stephanie McMahon Saved John Cena From Getting Fired

John Cena made his debut in 2002 when he answered Kurt Angle’s open challenge on SmackDown and then became an evil rapper towards the end of that year, which eventually made him a big star and turned him back into a babyface in late 2003.

Cena won his first World Title in 2005 when he defeated JBL in the co-main event of WrestleMania 21 to become the new WWE Champion … and the rest – so they say – is history.

However, the Wrestling Observer reported that Cena almost didn’t make it back then when he wrestled as a babyface in 2002 without much of a gimmick, and was almost fired by Vince McMahon:

“He was actually on the verge of being cut and his push was ended by Vince McMahon until Stephanie McMahon saw him rap off television and put in the word to go with him as a major star.”
