• Old School WWF Legend Celebrates His Birthday

Old School WWF Legend “The Model” Rick Martel (Real name: Richard Vigneault) celebrates his 63rd birthday today.

After being the AWA World Heavyweight Champion for most of 1984 & 1985, Rick Martel returned the World Wrestling Federation in 1986 and started teaming with Tom Zenk as The Can-Am Connection, before Zenk left and Tito Santana became Rick’s new partner in a Tag Team named Strike Force.

Martel turned heel on Santana at WrestleMania V and became known as “The Model”, a character he portrayed till he left the promotion in 1994.

He then returned for 1 night as an entrant in the 1995 Royal Rumble match, before joining Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling from 1997 until 1998, and then retired from professional wrestling.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RICK MARTEL!

• Sting Comments On If He Felt WWE Tried To Rub It In That They Beat WCW By Booking Him To Lose His WWE PPV Matches

Old School WCW Legend and now WWE Hall of Famer Sting finally arrived in WWE at Survivor Series 2014 PPV and went on to have two big PPV matches.

His first PPV match was at WrestleMania 31, where he lost to Triple H. His second WWE PPV match turned out to be the final match of his wrestling career, as he got injured while facing Seth Rollins in a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match (which he lost as well).

During a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, Sting was asked if he felt WWE tried to rub it in that they beat WCW during the Monday Night Wars by booking him to lose both of his PPV matches.

Below is what Sting said:

“I think everyone’s over it [the Monday Night Wars]…I really do. I mean it’s done and gone and I mean what more do you want? You know? I mean they did win, I mean WCW is long gone. WWE is a global killing machine and you can’t get any bigger.

I mean it’s one of the biggest like Vince McMahon says it’s one of the biggest ‘spectacles in all of sports entertainment.’ It truly is.

I mean where ever they go the world comes to see it. They travel all over the world they come to WrestleMania. So it is what it is and that’s that.”
