• Reason Behind WWE Booking Very Short Matches For Brock Lesnar At Live Events & How It Backfired

WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar will be making his return to UFC sometime next year. As we previously reported, WWE is trying to use this as an angle to get heat on Lesnar.

Dave Meltzer discussed an idea during Wrestling Observer Radio where WWE officials used Lesnar’s Live Event matches as a way for people to start disliking him.

Meltzer said that Lesnar’s house show matches are usually 3-5 minutes long. But eventually, WWE got it down to like 30-40 seconds because they want fans to think Lesnar is lazy and wants to do what he wants. In this way, fans might start cheering Roman Reigns (who was scheduled to feud with him for WrestleMania) who works far more longer matches than the Universal Champion.

Lesnar would show up, hit a couple German suplexes and an F5 and usually call it a day. However, this idea doesn’t look so successful so far as it got Lesnar more heat but Reigns did not get over with the fans through it.

On the most recent edition of the Steve Austin Show podcast, former 6 time WWF Champion ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin discussed some essential things needed in today’s pro wrestling with MLW’s Court Bauer.

The Rattlesnake emphasized on the manager position and wished that there were more superstars with managers in pro wrestling today.

Below is what Austin said:

“You just don’t see managers anymore. To me, they were the salt and pepper on a great steak. Such colorful, flamboyant personalities, either that mouthpiece, or that dressing, or whatever it needs to be to enhance that talent further, or be the crutch, or be an addition to, and just make that person a superstar.

The way I grew up watching wrestling when I was seven or eight years old, and going through the territories, and having my share of managers. Whether I liked them or not, or wanted them to be with me, I learned a lot from them. To me, they’re part of the landscape that is pro wrestling.”

Most of the fans will agree with Austin. Besides Paul Heyman (for Brock Lesnar on RAW) and Zelina Vega (for Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas on SmackDown Live), there are no managers on the WWE main roster today.
