Tonight’s WWE SummerSlam 2023 premium live event is airing LIVE from Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. This is the 36th annual SummerSlam.
The first match of the night is Logan Paul vs. Ricochet. WrestleVotes reported that Logan & Ricochet had a dual training session together at the WWE Performance Center on August 1, in preparation for their match.
Both men have placed “high expectations” on themselves for a “viral moment” tonight.
During the ending moments of the match, one of Logan’s friends gave Logan brass knuckles when the referee was checking on Ricochet.
Logan punches Ricochet with the knuckles and pinned him to pick up the win. This is Logan’s first win since his first singles match at SummerSlam 2022 last year.

Ring Announcer Samantha Irvin (Ricochet’s fiancee) was shown angry after the match.
Up next is the rubber match – Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes III. Both men are 1-1 against each other and this is the tie-breaker. WWE is promoting this as the final match of this feud.
This is “one of the main events” of the night. This is also Cody’s first appearance at SummerSlam in 8 years.
Cody attacked Brock before the bell rang and Brock fired back with a Suplex. Cody’s mother is ringside for this match.
Lesnar is dominating Cody and hit an F5 on the floor. Cody gets back into the ring to beat the referee’s count of 10. Soon after this, Lesnar F5ed Rhodes through the announce table! Cody once again gets back into the ring before the referee’s count of 10.
Brock delivers a Belly-to-Belly Overhead Suplex in the ring and Cody has no idea where he is.
The top turnbuckle has been accidentally exposed after Cody grabbed it to stop himself from getting suplexed, but Brock powered away and nailed a suplex anyway, thus ripping away the turnbuckle pad.
Cody sends Brock shoulder first into the ring post multiple times and hits Brock with the steel ring steps. They went back into the ring and Cody hit a Cody Cutter from the top rope! Cody went for the cover, but Brock kicked out.
Rhodes went for the Cross Rhodes, but Brock counters and locks in the Kimura Lock. Cody manages to reach the bottom rope.
Lesnar goes for the F5, but Cody counters and sends Brock chest-first into the exposed turnbuckle. Cody has now locked in the Kimura Lock on Brock! Brock broke the hold by picking Cody and slamming him on the mat.
Brock’s shorts are torn and The American Nightmare hits 3 Cross Rhodes in a row to defeat The Beast.

After the match, Lesnar removed his gloves and hugged Cody, shook his hand and raised his arm. Brock has turned babyface.

Up next is the Slim Jim 25-man SummerSlam Battle Royal. The Miz, LA Knight & AJ Styles’ entrances were shown, while the rest of the participants were already in the ring.
As soon as the bell rang and the match began, MVP came out and announced that Omos is going to be in the match as well, and out came the 7-foot-3 Nigerian Giant.
Multiple men joined forces to eliminate Omos. During the match, The Miz and Grayson Waller formed an alliance for a while, before they were eliminated by LA Knight and Sheamus respectively.
AJ Styles eliminates Karrion Kross with a Pele Kick. Bronson Reed eliminates Chad Gable. Knight eliminates Reed.
Styles, Sheamus & LA are left in the ring. Kross grabbed AJ’s leg on the ring apron, which led to Sheamus eliminating him with a Brogue Kick.
LA & Sheamus are left. LA delivers a powerslam and his signature elbow drop. LA goes for his finisher, but LA counters with a big knee to the face.
Knight jumps right to the top rope and hits a Belly To Belly Overhead Suplex on the top rope. LA then clotheslines Sheamus over the top rope to win!
LA Knight wins the SummerSlam Battle Royal
Up next is Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler in an MMA Rules Match. The referee says this is not a WWE sanctioned match and the only way to win is by Knockout or Submission.
During the match, Shayna kicked Ronda in the head, which sent her out of the ring and almost KOed Rousey. This was almost the same way Holly Holm handed Rousey her first loss ever in 2015.
Shayna might have hurt her arm as trainers are checking on her. Ronda takes out the trainers as she wants the fight to continue. They begin fighting again.
Both women are trying various submission holds on each other. Ronda passes out to Shayna’s Kirifuda Clutch and the fight is over.

After the match, the attendance for tonight was announced to be 59,194.
