• TBS Championship Is Coming To AEW

As we reported yesterday, AEW will be introducing a new Championship soon, which will be a mid-card Title for the women, similar to the TNT Championship for the men.

Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast reported the following:

“Hearing rumblings of a new title being introduced to AEW soon.

It will be a secondary women’s championship.”

In an update to this report, Zarian is now reporting that this new Title will be called the TBS Championship.

For those who don’t know, AEW’s Dynamite & Rampage TV shows will be moving to TBS in 2022.

Other promotions’ Titles also get defended on AEW TV (like Impact World Championship, IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship, NWA Women’s Championship, etc).

• ON THIS DAY IN PRO-WRESTLING HISTORY (September 23, 1994) – UWF Blackjack Brawl

On this day in 1994, Herb Abrams’ Universal Wrestling Federation aired ‘UWF Blackjack Brawl’ LIVE on SportsChannel America from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It was considered a failure with only 600 fans in the 15,000+ seat arena and also the TV buyrate was considered anything but good.

This ended up being the last UWF event in the promotion’s history, as a planned event called ‘UWF St. Valentine’s Day Massacre’, that was booked for February 10, 1996 was cancelled and Herb Abrams passed away not too long thereafter on July 23, 1996.
