• “That’s a glimmer of hope for me” – AEW Is Looking For Bumper Programming

On a recent episode of the Strictly Business podcast, 2021 WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff spoke about something that makes him see a glimmer of hope for Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling, after being one of the roughest AEW critics out there in recent memory.

Here’s what the former RAW General Manager had to say:

“I have no idea, there are a lot of things that suggest to me, it’s probably not a great franchise for them, but the one thing that suggests that it is, is they were, at least up until recently, maybe they still are, they’re apparently looking for bumper programming.

They’re looking for a lead-in, and they’re looking for a lead-out, with Dana White’s slap league or whatever that’s called. That at least indicates to me that they want to try to build on the franchise, and that’s a glimmer of hope for me if I was in AEW.”

Eric Bischoff started as an announcer and interviewer for Verne Gagne’s American Wrestling Association (AWA) from 1986 until 1991, before he joined Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling in ’91 to do the same, but eventually became the Senior Vice President, who was in charge of WCW during the famous Monday Night Wars of the 90s.

After WCW was sold to Vince McMahon, Eric was brought to WWE as the General Manager of the Monday Night RAW brand, a position he held from July 2002 till December 2005.

Some of the younger fans will also remember him as an on-screen character for Dixie Carter’s Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) between 2010 and 2012.
