• “That’s my only regret in my whole wrestling career” – WCW Rejected ‘Road Warriors vs. Harlem Heat’ Rivalry
During an interview on the ‘Grue Rume Show’, Old School WCW/nWo Veteran Stevie Ray revealed that Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling rejected a feud between the legendary Road Warriors (Legion of Doom in the WWF) and his own tag team with his brother Booker T, Harlem Heat.
While both teams wrestled each other in a match on the February 26th 1996 episode of WCW Monday NITRO, there was never an actual rivalry or a storyline feud between the two teams, which Stevie Ray claimed would’ve drawn a lot of money for the company.
Here’s what the former nWo Hollywood member had to say on the missed opportunity of a Road Warriors/Harlem Heat feud:
“That’s my only regret in my whole wrestling career. Why the office didn’t see that, we have no idea. Me and Animal talked about it for years, man. You know, and another, another brother we’ve lost.
God rest his soul, every time we’d see each other, we’d talk about, ‘Man, we could’ve, what kind of money we could’ve drew’. I question the, you know, the people that were running the office at that time.”
Stevie Ray was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2019 as part of Harlem Heat.
