Not every child of a legendary pro wrestler immediately steps into the wrestling ring. Some, like Roman Reigns and The Rock, first pursue careers in football before eventually transitioning to pro wrestling. Bill Goldberg is ensuring that his son, Gage Goldberg, is well-prepared for his journey in college football.

Gage Goldberg has joined the University of Colorado football team for the 2024 season under Coach Deion Sanders. As a linebacker, Gage signed his national letter of intent on National Signing Day to play for the Buffaloes.

During a recent practice, Bill Goldberg was there to support his son, offering some motivational, albeit explicit, advice. Goldberg’s words to his son were:

“Have fun, but get your a$$ locked in. I’m telling you, get f***ing locked in. I love you, I’ll be on the sideline, go get f***ing locked in, help your boys out, go get f***ing ready, okay? Hey, this ain’t gonna be a walkover today, by any means, so get their a$$ ready. That’s your f***ing job.”

Goldberg’s message reflects his desire for his son to be fully prepared. With his own background in both wrestling and football, Goldberg understands the dedication required to succeed.

In 1990, Bill Goldberg was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the 11th round of the NFL draft, although he never played a game for them. He eventually debuted in the NFL on December 3, 1992, for the Atlanta Falcons and played until 1994. While Goldberg transitioned to pro wrestling, his passion for football remains strong.

Whether Gage Goldberg will follow in his father’s footsteps in the world of pro wrestling remains to be seen. However, one thing is clear: his father is fully supportive of his college football journey.

Gage did get physical in WWE one time, when he jumped on Bobby Lashley at SummerSlam 2021 to save his father, but Lashley took him out with the Hurt Lock.
