The Rock revealed on The Pat McAfee Show that he didn’t appear at WrestleMania 41 because he wanted all of the spotlight on John Cena and his 17th World Title victory.

Jonathan Coachman didn’t buy this explanation and said the following in a video he posted:

“He was the person I was on TV first with in my career in the WWE. For him to go on Pat McAfee (Show) and say, ‘I didn’t want the spotlight on me, I wanted it on John Cena’. What?

You had to know, he is so smart, he had to know that by not showing up, by not tweeting, by not posting, by not saying anything, now all of the focus is now on you.

I don’t know what is going on, but something is going on. I’ve been around enough backstage to know when, creatively, you don’t get along. They are not getting along.

And The Rock somehow wanted to make a statement. Well, statement made loud and clear. Now, they are doing cleanup. And that, that was not it.”

Vince Russo also believes something is going on backstage. Here’s what he said on the Legion of RAW podcast:

“I do want to say this first. There has been no social media from The Rock for 3 to 4 days (before WrestleMania 41); nothing, zero. So, there is definitely something going on behind the scenes. If anything, Rock would’ve put over WrestleMania, Rock would’ve put over his boy, John Cena. Zero, did not say a word.”

When Dave LaGreca of Busted Open Radio called out The Rock for throwing Triple H under the bus by saying that he would’ve booked the finish of John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes a little different, Rock wrote the following on Instagram:

“Hi Dave, the business is a complete work. Always has been, always will be. Every aspect of it. Every match. Every interview.

Please join me, Cody, Cena, Brian and the rest of us for our creative discussions so you can expand your perspective. Until then, stop ranting, it’s not healthy my friend. Enjoy the show.”
