The Rock Isn’t Holding WrestleMania 40 Documentary Hostage, Real Reason It Hasn’t Been Released Yet

WrestleMania 40 was a spectacle like no other, breaking numerous company records and earning acclaim as one of the most unforgettable events in WWE history. Held over two electrifying nights at Lincoln Financial Field, the grandeur of WrestleMania drew an astounding 145,298 attendees from around the world, setting a new standard for sports entertainment on a global scale.

A documentary about this event was scheduled to be released on April 10th, as announced by WWE, but it still hasn’t been released.

Initially, speculation surrounding the delay in the documentary’s release centered on the extensive amount of footage that WWE had to sift through and compile. However, as time passes without any updates on its debut, fans are left wondering about the true cause of the delay.

PWInsider then reported that within WWE circles, there is a growing belief that the documentary’s release hinges on obtaining final approval from none other than The Rock himself.

However, that’s not the case.

On The Masked Man Show, Seven Bucks SVP and The Rock’s WWE creative writer Brian Gewirtz revealed that WWE accidentally promoted the release of the documentary at a premature date:

“Believe it or not, there is an awesome (documentary). The Rock isn’t holding hostage until he has approval of every frame. I think there was an error in terms of promoting it so soon because it wasn’t ready to come out. That was an error that was made.

This is a doc that went from 11 minutes to 45 minutes and now it’s over an hour. It’s pretty awesome. It will be coming out, in some form, pretty soon, is my understanding.”

WrestleMania XL featured The Rock’s first advertised WWE match in 11 years (so not counting the impromptu 6-second match against Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32).

The Final Boss teamed up with his cousin Roman Reigns to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in the main event of Night 1.

Rock pinned Cody to pick up the win for his team. On RAW after WrestleMania, Rock revealed that he’ll come for The American Nightmare once he returns to WWE again, after finishing his ongoing Hollywood commitments.
