Below are some top news stories of the day, involving The Rock and CM Punk.

• Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is set to portray MMA fighter Mark Kerr in the upcoming drama “The Smashing Machine”, produced by A24.

The film, directed and written by Benny Safdie, explores Kerr’s career as a two-time UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion and his struggles with addiction, as documented in the 2002 HBO film of the same name.

Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions, along with Safdie’s Out for the Count, Eli Bush, and David Koplan, will produce the movie.

In addition to this project, Johnson is involved in other ventures, such as “Red Notice 2” on Netflix and the Amazon action comedy “Red One”.

You can watch highlights from Mark Kerr’s fighting career below:

• Ever since his return to WWE, CM Punk has said multiple times that he’s back “home”.

WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley didn’t like this and said the following on Busted Open Radio:

“Stop! Because when CM Punk says, ‘I’m home’, it sounds like a crock of sh*t to me’.

You can’t call someplace home that you’ve gone on record to say caused you mental and physical harm, so I would much rather see Punk talk about being back in WWE rather than home.

When CM Punk says home, it doesn’t come across as genuine to me.”
