Below are a couple of top WWE & AEW news stories of the day, involving The Rock and Cody Rhodes.
• As we noted earlier, PWInsider reported that WWE Officials are monitoring the negative response on Social Media to The Rock replacing Cody Rhodes in the WrestleMania 40 main event spot, so there’s a chance that WWE might change plans as nothing is officially announced so far.
Some fans have taken their support for Cody too far and have openly sent death threats to The Rock over this storyline.
In an update, some fans have sent death threats to The Rock’s daughter Ava as well, who is the General Manager of NXT.
Ava tweeted the following about this situation:
“Can ya’ll just leave me out of this ffs I’m busy running a SHOW
Death threats over a situation I have nothing to do with … bffr”
• AEW Collision initially centered around CM Punk when it premiered last year but shifted its focus after Punk’s release. The show now features various stars such as Adam Copeland (aka Edge), Bryan Danielson and Eddie Kingston.
Now, the mentality among top stars on Collision is to elevate newer talent and make them bigger stars, in contrast to Dynamite, where established stars typically face each other.
On Collision, top stars collaborate with lesser-known talent in less prominent roles.
Here’s what the Wrestling Observer reported:
“The thing with Bryan Danielson is that like he’s… a lot of things on Collision, with a lot of the guys, is there’s a mentality on that show with the guys who were, if you want to call them the bookers of the show or assistant bookers because Tony’s the booker, but the assistant bookers of the show, and their mentality is 100% ‘let’s get other people over but we still have to win’ because, you know, they’re key guys, whether it’s Eddie Kingston, Bryan Danielson, can’t lose to Hechicero. But he’s trying to get these guys, whatever it is, a job or whatever.”
