Below are a couple of top news stories of the day, featuring The Rock, Drew McIntyre and Cody Rhodes.

• The Rock is teaming up with Leonardo DiCaprio and Emily Blunt for a Hawaii-set crime epic by Martin Scorsese, described as The Departed meets Goodfellas.

Backed by A24, the film tells the true story of a charismatic mob boss who rose to power in 1960s and 70s Hawaii, battling rival syndicates and corporate giants in a brutal fight for control.

The Rock and Blunt pitched the idea to Scorsese and DiCaprio, making it one of the most anticipated crime dramas in years.

You can read the synopsis below:

“The film focuses on a turbulent time on the island paradise when an aspiring mob boss battled rival crime factions to wrest control of the underworld of the Hawaiian islands. It was a bloody battle, the kind of terrain Scorsese covered in both Goodfellas and The Departed.

In 1960s and 70s Hawaii, this formidable and charismatic mob boss rises to build the islands’ most powerful criminal empire, waging a brutal war against mainland corporations and rival syndicates while fighting to preserve his ancestral land.

It’s based on the untold true story of a man who fought to preserve his homeland through a ruthless quest for absolute power — igniting the last great American mob saga, where the war for cultural survival takes place in the unlikeliest of places: paradise.”

• Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is the most protected superstar in the company today and hasn’t been pinned in a while.

Drew McIntyre congratulated Cody on not being pinned for a year, but mocked him by using a photo from their match on the February 19, 2024 episode of RAW, where McIntyre pinned Rhodes after interference from The Bloodline.

McIntyre will compete in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match on March 1st, with the winner challenging Rhodes for the WWE Title in the main event of WrestleMania 41.
