During a recent episode of his ‘Six Feet Under’ podcast, The Undertaker revealed that some fans accuse him of ruining their childhoods.

Despite earning iconic status for his commitment and never breaking character on WWF/WWE TV, The Deadman stated that people criticize him for conducting interviews out of character since his retirement in 2020.

The Undertaker, who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2022, maintained his mystique throughout his entire World Wrestling Federation / WWE career, but some fans seem disappointed when he appears as himself in interviews, claiming it tarnishes their childhood memories of the legendary character.

Here’s what Mark Calaway had to say:

“There are people out there that are still mad at me.

There are a ton of people that love the fact that I’m talking and doing the 1 deadMAN SHOW and Six Feet Under, but there are still a large group of people that are really upset with me, because I don’t talk about taking souls and I’ve kind of opened up, to the point where people have accused me of ruining their childhood.”

Speaking of The Undertaker, during a March 2023 interview with Ariel Helwani, he said that that the Deadman gimmick is gone and he will never wear the hat and the coat on TV again:

“They had a different vision. They didn’t even know that I wasn’t going to have the hat and coat; they totally thought I was coming out as old Undertaker.

I was like, no. That’s part of me and the storytelling, right? When I lifted the curtain, and when I lifted it back and pulled it back, that’s gone. It’s gone now.

I won’t bring the hat and coat back out, no.”

Undertaker appeared as The American Badass during his two WWE TV appearances this year (RAW XXX & NXT).
