• The Undertaker Says He Needs To Accept The Consequences Of The Decision He Made In 2017

The Undertaker was dealing with a lot of physical issues heading into 2017, mainly hip issues.

Due to these issues, he wasn’t able to train properly and wasn’t in his best shape. Also, age and injuries were catching up to him.

Despite all of this, The Deadman agreed to work a program with Roman Reigns, to put him over and make him the new “Big Dog”.

On April 2, 2017, in the main event of WrestleMania 33, Reigns became the second and the final man to defeat The Undertaker at WrestleMania.

Undertaker wasn’t happy with his performance in this match, which was scheduled to be his final match. This resulted in him coming out of retirement in 2018. This topic was covered in detail on “The Last Ride” docuseries in 2020.

During a recent interview with CBS Sports, The Phenom said that he’s still disappointed about that night:

“Yeah, absolutely. I was so disappointed in my performance with Roman at that Mania. I could give you a hundred excuses and my hip was this and all of that, but I’m the one that made the decision to do it so I need to accept the consequences of that decision.”

On The Last Ride, while training for his WrestleMania 34 comeback, Undertaker said he shouldn’t have been in the ring in 2017.
