• Tommaso Ciampa Could’ve Been Paralysed If WWE Went Ahead With Their Original Plan

As we all know by now, NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa relinquished his Title to undergo neck surgery.

WWE officials knew that Ciampa needed the surgery and kept him from working NXT Live Events, so that they can save him for the originally planned 2 out of 3 falls match against Johnny Gargano in the main event of NXT TakeOver: New York.

The plan was to go ahead with the match and have an angle where Ciampa hurts his neck during the match and then he would have undergone neck surgery immediately after that WrestleMania 35 weekend show.

According to the Wrestling Observer, Ciampa’s injury was so bad that he could’ve been paralysed if he took a bad bump during the match.

So they couldn’t hold off on the surgery and the decision was made for him to vacate the NXT Championship.

Johnny Gargano vs. Adam Cole in a 2 out of 3 falls match for the vacant NXT Championship will now take place in the main event of NXT TakeOver: New York.
