• Tony Khan Explains Why CM Punk Wrestles On AEW Rampage And Not On AEW Dynamite

After having his AEW debut match at the All Out PPV, CM Punk has been wrestling on AEW Rampage on Friday nights.

He’s had 2 matches on Rampage so far, and tonight will be his 3rd (against Matt Sydal).

During an interview with New York Post, AEW President Tony Khan was asked why Punk only wrestles on Rampage, and not on Dynamite.

Khan explained that Punk helps the viewership of their Friday night show (which hasn’t been doing that great):

“He’s given a great lift. When he’s wrestled they’ve been the high quarter hours (ratings) and his appearances have helped lift the audience and we’ve seen on Friday nights that people do want to see him, even this past week when there was great competition from baseball.”

Despite Punk wrestling on Rampage, viewership has been going down. Tonight’s live episode of Rampage and the challenge with SmackDown will definitely help the numbers though.
