Below are a couple of top AEW & WWE news stories of the day, involving Tony Khan and CM Punk.
• According to Andrew Zarian, Tony Khan has long term plans for the following 6 wrestlers in AEW:
1. Swerve Strickland
2. Kazuchika Okada
3. Will Ospreay
4. “Hangman” Adam Page
5. Konosuke Takeshita
6. Daniel Garcia
All the above mentioned men except Okada (who hasn’t officially signed with All Elite Wrestling yet) are booked for matches at this Sunday’s Revolution PPV.
Strickland and Page will be in the AEW World Title match, Ospreay will take on Takeshita, and Garcia will challenge Christian Cage for the TNT Championship.
• WWE is advertising that CM Punk will return to TV on the final RAW before WrestleMania 40 in Brooklyn on April 1st.
This will be Punk’s first appearance on RAW since the post-Royal Rumble episode, where he announced his triceps injury and got attacked by Drew McIntyre.
McIntyre is doing a good job of keeping Punk relevant on TV, as he keeps taking shots at him, both on RAW and Social Media.
According to Fightful Select, current plan is to have Punk involved at WrestleMania 40 in some capacity.
While nothing is confirmed about his WrestleMania XL role so far, there’s speculation that he could either be the Host of the show or be the Special Guest Referee for the World Heavyweight Championship match between Seth Rollins and McIntyre.
Punk was last seen at the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff Press Conference, where he worked as a Host. He also appeared in attendance at the recent UFC 298 PPV.
