As Becky Lynch’s WWE contract nears its end, speculation is rife about her next move in the wrestling world. Reports suggest that Lynch will become a free agent on June 1st, opening the door to potential new opportunities, including a possible shift to All Elite Wrestling.
In a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, AEW President Tony Khan was asked about the prospect of signing new talent, particularly from WWE. Khan, who has previously brought in high-profile stars such as Adam Copeland and Mercedes Mone, expressed openness to adding more talent to AEW’s roster.
“I’m always open to signing new free agents,” Khan stated. “There’s definitely interest from various talents.”
Despite his general enthusiasm, Khan was careful not to mention any specific names during the conversation. When Rich Eisen pressed him, suggesting that Khan might be concerned about accusations of contract tampering, Khan responded thoughtfully.
“I don’t want to try to tamper and do those things,” he explained. “I try to keep it classy and I really have a reputation for honesty and I really want to be a fair businessman. The wrestling business is a really cutthroat business.”
The discussion took a turn when Eisen directly brought up Becky Lynch, noting her impending free agency. When asked if he had any interest in Lynch, Khan was notably cautious.
“You invoked the tampering word,” he said, sidestepping a direct answer.
Eisen’s co-host, TJ, chimed in, highlighting Lynch’s star power and the substantial fanbase she commands.
“Absolutely. Great star,” Khan acknowledged, without committing to any specific plans regarding Lynch.
