During the post-WrestleDream PPV media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan was asked if he knew Jade Cargill was planning to leave the company when she recently returned on Collision.

Tony said he knew she was leaving and that’s when he came up with the idea of Cargill returning on Collision and setting up her final match against Kris Statlander for the TBS Women’s Championship in the main event of Rampage, which she lost.

Khan revealed that he was talking to Jade about a new contract and he made a very big offer, which he thought was a very fair offer. Jade was considering it, but she asked for a bigger offer and Tony went up on the offer again.

Tony thought the new offer was going to make things work, but it didn’t and he was surprised by it because he offered a number that was bigger than what Jade asked for. Tony said he didn’t know what to do at that point.

Khan said he was hoping Cargill would change her mind and agree to sign a new deal, but when she didn’t, Khan decided to give her the best possible exit from the company.

Tony also revealed that legendary commentator Tony Schiavone praised him for how he booked Cargill’s exit and said: “you’re a classy guy, boss”.

Khan said he wants wrestlers to know that AEW is going to treat them well, whether they are coming in to the company or leaving.

He called Cargill’s AEW exit one of the classiest exits in pro-wrestling. He called Ric Flair leaving the WWF in 1993 the classiest exit in Professional Wrestling.

Jade Cargill went on to sign a multi-year contract with WWE, as she feels she’ll get more opportunities, both in & out of the ring, while working for the biggest wrestling company in the world.
