Samoa Joe defeated MJF to win the AEW World Championship in the main event of the Worlds End PPV.
MJF passed out to Joe’s Coquina Clutch. Adam Cole was ringside for the match and was shocked.
After the match, Adam Cole was revealed as The Devil and his goons were Wardlow, Roderick Strong, Mike Bennett & Matt Taven. They beat up MJF to end the show.
In an update, MJF has now been removed from the official AEW roster on their website. MJF has noted multiple times that his contract was set to expire on January 1st 2024.
There were rumors that MJF has quietly signed a new long-term deal with All Elite Wrestling, but there’s no confirmation on it. AEW President Tony Khan said he can’t comment on MJF’s future during the Worlds End post-show media scrum.
After MJF’s loss at Worlds End, Fightful Select reported that MJF is expected to take time off:
“Many that Fightful spoke to immediately following AEW Worlds End said that they expect MJF to be off TV for a while immediately, if not almost immediately.
MJF had sustained a plethora of injuries during his AEW Title reign, but was adamant that he wanted to see it through.
As MJF is often influential in his own creative, there’s always a chance he could insist on an absence not happening, but it’s expected internally.
MJF has long said that his AEW contract is up at the start of 2024. He’s not told anyone any different, but WWE sources have claimed that they’ve not had conversations with him, though there was interest as recently as a year ago.”
