Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, featuring Sabu and Jeff Cobb.
• Top Star Was Pushing For Sabu’s Hall Of Fame Induction Internally In WWE
ECW Legend Sabu has passed away at the age of 60. He had his retirement match on April 18, where he defeated former AEW wrestler Joey Janela in a brutal Barbed Wire Rope Match at Joey Janela’s Spring Break 9, part of the GCW Collective events on WrestleMania 41 Eve at the Palm’s Casino in Las Vegas.
In 2022, Sami Zayn tweeted the following:
“Sabu should be in the Hall of Fame.”
After Sabu’s passing, Sami remembered his above tweet and wrote:
“This is a gut punch. I was pushing this agenda again a few weeks ago after Sabu had his final match.
RIP Sabu. One of a kind, absolute legend, and a true game changer for professional wrestling.”
Sami also tweeted the following to Rob Van Dam:
“You and [Sabu] changed the game forever.”

Cobb arrived in WWE after a hectic travel schedule that took him across multiple time zones.
According to PWInsider, Cobb took 4 to 5 flights over the past 36 hours, beginning his journey in Japan and arriving in St. Louis the morning of the event.
He was then kept hidden backstage to maintain the surprise of his appearance.
During the Backlash post-show, Big E suggested that WWE might change Cobb’s name:
“We saw the debut of a man once referred to as Jeff Cobb. Not entirely sure what he’ll be referred to now.”
While we don’t know if this is related to Jeff Cobb, WWE filed to trademark “JC MATEO” on May 10.
