Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, involving Kevin Owens and Becky Lynch.
• In the main event of WrestleMania 39 – Night 1, Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn defeated The Usos to win the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship.
They held the Titles for 153 days, before losing them to Finn Balor & Damian Priest of Judgment Day at the Payback 2023 PLE.
During an interview with Alex McCarthy of Mail Sport, Owens said he and Sami did a lot of great things during this title reign, but a lot of it didn’t get the recognition it should have gotten because they didn’t happen at a PLE.
Here’s what the former Universal Champion said:
“Me and Sami worked our a$$es off to give main events on RAW every week that had people going wild and we succeeded, and I’m not one to toot my own horn, I really am not, but I think Sami and I did a lot of special things as champions that went under the radar because they weren’t on pay-per-views. They weren’t under the big bright lights. They were usually on RAW.”
• Becky Lynch won the Women’s Elimination Chamber match to earn a Women’s World Championship match against Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 40.
With this win, Becky has become the first woman to achieve the following things:
– Win a Hell in a Cell match (October 2019)
– Win a Steel Cage match (February 2023 & September 2023)
– Win a War Games match (November 2022 & November 2023)
– Win an Elimination Chamber match (February 2024)
