Below are some top WWE news stories of the day, featuring Drew McIntyre, The Rock and Carmella.

• Drew McIntyre revealed he had fluid drained from his swollen knee just 45 minutes before his match against Jimmy Uso on tonight’s SmackDown.

You can watch it below:

While Drew wrestled through the pain, he lost the match as Jimmy managed to pin him. Drew attacked Jimmy after the match and laid him out with a Claymore Kick.

This injury has raised concerns about his condition ahead of WrestleMania 41, which is still two months away. Drew is scheduled to compete in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match in one week.

• As we noted earlier, The Rock hinted that he’s going to set up his match against Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship, as he posted the following:

“NEW ORLEANS, the Final Boss has arrived

This exact Rolex was the gift from our WWE Champion Cody Rhodes to me, about 5 hours before our WrestleMania match at WM40.

It’s time.”

Tonight’s SmackDown kicked off with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis informing Cody that he has been pulled from tonight’s 6-man tag team match, and that The Final Boss wants to see the Undisputed Champion in the ring later tonight.

• Carmella is no longer under WWE contract after her deal expired, according to Fightful Select.

The former SmackDown Women’s Champion has been sidelined due to drop foot and two herniated discs since giving birth to her son.

She last wrestled in March 2023 but was only back for six weeks after a previous absence since 2022. While her return remains uncertain, WWE is reportedly open to welcoming her back if she’s ready.

Earlier this month, Carmella gave the following update on her health on her Instagram story:

“EMGs, MRIs, Spine Specialists, Neurologists, Physical Therapy. Just a few of the things I’ve been upto lately trying to get this foot better. No one prepares you for the injuries you can sustain while giving birth. No one talks about it. But here I am, living it 14 months later.”
