Stephanie Vaquer wrestled on the July 28 episode of RAW in an 8-Woman Tag Team Match before suddenly disappearing from WWE TV. She had earned a Women’s World Championship Match by winning the 20-Woman Battle Royal at Evolution, but her scheduled bout with Naomi at Clash In Paris was canceled after Naomi announced her pregnancy and vacated the title.
WWE later announced that Vaquer would face IYO SKY for the vacant Women’s World Championship at Wrestlepalooza.
La Primera eventually returned on NXT earlier this month, where she teamed up with Rhea Ripley and WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton to confront The Fatal Influence. Stephanie, Rhea, and Lyra Valkyria (replacing Tiffany) later faced them in a 6-Woman Tag Team Match at NXT Homecoming and won.
On the Wrestlepalooza Post-Show, Triple H revealed that Vaquer had been very sick in recent weeks with “flu-like symptoms.” He praised her for getting cleared just in time for the event and putting on a strong performance against IYO SKY.
Stephanie Vaquer went on to defeat IYO SKY at Wrestlepalooza to capture the Women’s World Championship.
Triple H Says New & Former Stars Message Him Daily Wanting To Join WWE
WWE has gone through major changes since Triple H took over as Chief Content Officer in 2022. Many former stars have returned, several big names have signed and the overall locker room environment is said to be much better than it was under Vince McMahon.
Speaking on the Wrestlepalooza Countdown Show, Triple H revealed that he hears daily from wrestlers, some asking for their first shot in WWE and others hoping to make a return.
“Not a day goes by that I don’t get a text saying either ‘I wanna come home’ or ‘I’ve never been there, is there an opportunity for me there?’ ‘I’m overseas now, I have this long left on my deal’.”
Triple H has always been open about wanting WWE to be the top destination for wrestling talent. The Game has played an important role in bringing major independent stars to the promotion and also continues to recruit talent through programs like NIL and WWE ID.
Cody Rhodes’ Next PLE Match Revealed After Wrestlepalooza
During Wrestlepalooza, Michael Cole announced that Men’s & Women’s World Champions of RAW and SmackDown will compete for the Crown Jewel Championships in Australia next month.
In the main event, Cody Rhodes defeated Drew McIntyre to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.
During the post show, Joe Tessitore asked Cody what’s next for him and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins came out.
Cody and Seth had a face-off and both men raised their titles, confirming that they will collide for the Men’s Crown Jewel Championship at Crown Jewel: Perth on October 11. Triple H later came out and officially announced the match.
