John Cena Working A PPV Before SummerSlam 2017

While John Cena (who’s scheduled to return to WWE programming on the July 4th edition of SmackDown Live) will definitely work this year’s SummerSlam 2017 PPV, but he has now been added to the next SmackDown Live exclusive PPV, Battleground 2017, as well.

It’s not known at the moment who Cena will face at Battleground 2017 PPV, but word going on is that “Free Agent” John Cena is expected to work both Raw & SmackDown Live events going forward. Cena was last seen on WWE programming at WrestleMania 33, where he teamed up with Nikki Bella to defeat the team of The Miz & Maryse. Also, Cena won his 16th WWE World Title earlier this year at Royal Rumble 2017 PPV by defeating AJ Styles.

Former Champion Returning This Weekend

Former two time United States Champion Rusev, who was previously rumored to return on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live but didn’t, is now being advertised for this weekend’s WWE SmackDown Live Event.

He’s being advertised to face United States Champion Kevin Owens & Mojo Rawley in a Triple Threat match at Sunday’s SmackDown Live Event in Everett, Washington. Then at Monday’s SmackDown Live Event in Bakersfield, CA, Rusev is scheduled to face Shinsuke Nakamura & Owens in a Triple Threat match.
