1. Hulk Hogan Might End Up With Almost Half a Billion Dollars From Gawker Lawsuit

As we noted before, WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan won the lawsuit against Gawker and was awarded $115 million.

However, this amount does not include the punitive damages (designed to punish defendants for intentional wrongdoing). The amount made from punitive damages is usually 2-3 times that of compensatory damages. This means that the total amount that Hogan might end up with might be near to half a billion dollars!

However, Gawker has already filed an appeal. Below is what Nick Denton, founder of Gawker, had to say:

Given key evidence and the most important witnesses were both improperly withheld from the jury, we all knew the appeals court will need to resolve the case. I want to thank our lawyers for their outstanding work and am confident that we would have prevailed at trial if we had been allowed to present the full case to the jury.
