Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, featuring Undertaker and Asuka.
• WWE LFG has been renewed for a second season on A&E, but with a key change—Michelle McCool will replace Mickie James as a coach.
According to Fightful Select, The Undertaker played a role in getting McCool added to the show.
While there’s no indication he requested James’ removal, he expressed interest in returning for season 2 if McCool was involved. WWE then decided to bring her in as a coach.
In an update on this situation, Sean Ross Sapp noted during his Q&A show that Undertaker wasn’t too thrilled with this story, as he never asked for Mickie to be removed from the show, yet ended up taking heat for it on X from fans.
Undertaker only asked to work with McCool on this show, and it was WWE who decided to replace Mickie with Michelle, and not keep both women on the show.
Sapp also reported that McCool was originally approached to be a coach on Season 1 of WWE LFG, but she couldn’t do it due to a scheduling conflict.
• Former WWE Women’s Champion Asuka has been sidelined following knee surgery last year, though she continued wrestling for some time despite the injury. This included competing at Backlash France in April 2024, where she and Kairi Sane lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles to Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill.
After announcing her break, Asuka underwent surgery and began rehab, sharing her recovery journey through vlogs on her YouTube channel.
According to Sean Ross Sapp on the Fightful Select Q&A, a pitch was made to have Asuka return and compete in a tag team match at WrestleMania 41. However, there’s no update yet on who the opponents will be if this match goes down.
