• Universal Title Match Set For WrestleMania Backlash

Tonight’s Throwback Edition of SmackDown kicked off with Universal Champion Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman and Jey Uso coming out.

Reigns talked about ending Daniel Bryan’s SmackDown career on last week’s show and also did a 10-bell salute for Bryan’s dead career (with Heyman making the bell sound).

Reigns then introduced Bryan’s replacement on the blue brand – the returning Jimmy Uso.

Jimmy was out of action since WrestleMania 36 due to a knee injury.

Cesaro then interrupted them and said no one can replace Bryan and he then got attacked by Seth Rollins from behind.

WWE Hall Of Famer Teddy Long then came out and said WWE Official Adam Pearce has given him power to make decisions tonight.

Teddy announced that if Cesaro beats Rollins tonight, he’ll go on to challenge Reigns for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania Backlash.

Cesaro defeated Rollins, and Roman Reigns vs. Cesaro for the Universal Championship will now take place at WrestleMania Backlash.

This is going to be Cesaro’s first ever one-on-one World Title match.

In a backstage segment, Rollins got angry at The Usos costing him his match against Cesaro. Reigns told Rollins he lost so he screwed himself over and now he himself will deal with Cesaro.

Rollins told Reigns he must deal with Jimmy Uso, or else he will.
