As we have noted before, the original plan for the SummerSlam 2017 main event was for Brock Lesnar to defend the Universal Championship against Braun Strowman in a singles match.
But then there were some talks of WWE officials wanting to take the Title off Lesnar because they felt Brock not appearing much on WWE programming as the Universal Champion is hurting their product. So they decided to go with their original plan of Roman Reigns dethroning Lesnar to become the next Universal Champion by planning to do a singles match between Brock Lesnar & Roman Reigns at SummerSlam 2017.
With their original WrestleMania 34 main event of Lesnar vs. Reigns now taking place at SummerSlam 2017, talks began of doing a John Cena vs. Roman Reigns match for the first time ever in the main event of WrestleMania 34.
But then the SummerSlam 2017 main event was changed to a Fatal 4 Way match and now the plan for the WrestleMania 34 main event is back to Lesnar vs. Reigns for the Universal Championship. Also, the Reigns vs. Cena match might possibly take place before WrestleMania 34, with Reigns most probably going over and getting a good deal of much needed momentum on his side (since he has lost every PPV match since his huge win over The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33).
