AEW Dynamite is reportedly averaging approximately 500,000 viewers on MAX since its debut on the streaming platform this year, according to SEScoops. When combined with live cable viewership, this brings the show’s total audience to an estimated 1 to 1.2 million viewers per episode.

“According to sources, the show is averaging around 60 million minutes watched per show with a deviation of plus/minus 10 to 20 percent depending on the episode and competition.” This metric, minutes watched, is a key indicator for streamers, and translates to roughly 500,000 viewers per episode in Live-Plus-1 data, which includes live and 24-hour delayed viewing.

While MAX aims to reach 150 million global subscribers by 2026, its current US subscriber base is estimated at 60 million. AEW’s performance on the platform has impressed Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), leading to a three-year deal valued at around $175 to $185 million.

AEW pay-per-views are expected to transition to MAX once the platform supports live PPV events. Sources indicate AEW has outperformed some NHL games on MAX, although it trails behind major NBA matchups and top-tier streaming shows like “Daredevil: Born Again” and “Agatha All Along.”

“Many of the top execs don’t know the overall numbers,” a source stated. “Whether its total minutes watched. Viewers who have watched the total show. (They) can make correlations but what streamers look for is quite different from cable or OTA where numbers are there to satisfy advertisers.” This highlights the distinct metrics used by streaming services compared to traditional television. The source also indicated that AEW will face increasing competition as other high profile shows return to the platform.

Fightful Select reported the following about this report:

“We’ve not confirmed [this report] independently. All we’ve heard is back in January when a WBD rep noted that it was among the top streaming live sports on the platform. AEW itself doesn’t get those numbers.”
