• Update On Cody Rhodes Following Unprotected Chair Shot To The Head, Chair Was Actually Gimmicked

At last night’s AEW Fyter Fest event, Cody Rhodes wrestled Darby Allin to a 20 minute time limit draw.

After the match, Shawn Spears (f.k.a Tye Dillinger in WWE) came to the ring and hit Cody in the head with a Steel Chair!

This was an unprotected chair shot to the head and Cody was busted open.

You can watch it below:

During media interviews after the show, AEW President Tony Khan said the following about this:

“We called a doctor immediately. Obviously really regrettable what happened. I don’t know if this is the time to go into detail about what happened but we had taken precautions in this situation and that specific situation. A doctor was available and Cody does not have a concussion and had staples and we’re all very grateful for that.”

Dave Meltzer said the following about this on Wrestling Observer Radio:

“I was kinda warned about it before the show and it was completely gimmicked and it was supposed to be safe, but I guess somehow the unsafe part cracked the back of his head bloodied him up.

It wrapped around, it was like a wrap around part and that’s what cut him up.”
