Below are a couple of top WWE & AEW news stories of the day, involving WrestleMania 40 and Sting.

• With the ongoing situation between The Rock and Cody Rhodes, there’s speculation that WWE might turn the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match at WrestleMania 40 into a Triple Threat Match between Rock, Cody and Roman Reigns.

However, that’s not the case.

Here’s what the Wrestling Observer reported:

“Whatever they’re doing, whether it’s a three-way which I was told, it was not going to be, but whether it’s them doing two matches, where Roman wrestles twice, or how they make this thing work. I was told it will likely be completed by the end of the press conference if that is the plan.”

The main event of WrestleMania 40 – Night 2 will be officially announced at tonight’s WrestleMania XL Kickoff media event in Las Vegas, which will air on Social Media and Peacock at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT.

• On last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Sting and Darby Allin defeated Ricky Stars & Big Bill (fka Big Cass in WWE) to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship.

This was Sting’s first title win in AEW and his first championship victory in 13 years.

According to Fightful Select, Sting was against the idea of winning the AEW World Tag Team Titles for a long time, or even competing for them, but people in the company thought it made sense since Sting & Darby are undefeated as a tag team.

After the victory last night, Sting was all smiles backstage.

Sting & Darby were attacked by The Young Bucks after the match. Sting & Darby vs. Young Bucks for the Tag Team Titles is expected to take place at next month’s Revolution PPV, which will be Sting’s retirement match.
