Below are some top AEW news stories of the day, involving Miro and Swerve Strickland.

• AEW has a vast roster, and at times, it’s unclear why certain wrestlers aren’t regularly featured on television. Miro (fka Rusev), who joined AEW in 2020 after a successful WWE career, has experienced sporadic appearances, leading to criticism of All Elite Wrestling for inconsistent pushes.

In 2022, Miro wrestled only 4 matches and was absent from TV for months before making a return in June 2023. He participated in just 7 matches that year, with his last bout being against Andrade El Idolo at the Worlds End PPV in December.

In March, it was revealed that Miro and CJ Perry were getting a divorce after 7 years of marriage, with their breakup occurring in the winter of 2023.

In an April interview, Miro mentioned dealing with shoulder and elbow injuries, which he took care of in January, and stated he was recovering and getting stronger.

According to PWInsider, Miro is back in the United States after spending some time in Bulgaria. He was recently spotted in Los Angeles, but it’s unclear when he will return to AEW television or what plans the company has for him.

• Swerve Strickland joined AEW in 2022 after getting released from WWE, becoming a Tag Team Champion and breaking out as a singles competitor in 2023. He captured the AEW World Championship earlier this year by defeating Samoa Joe, but lost it to Bryan Danielson at All In.

During the All In Zero Hour pre-show, Tony Khan announced that Strickland had signed a new deal with the company.

Fightful Select reports that Strickland’s previous contract, which was set to expire in March 2025, was renegotiated due to his recent success.

The new multi-year deal is expected to keep him with AEW until at least 2028, with one source describing it as one of the biggest contracts in the company’s history.
