Below are a couple of top Royal Rumble 2025 news stories of the day, featuring Jey Uso, John Cena, and Roxanne Perez.

• Roxanne Perez’s time in NXT appears to be winding down as she’s on the brink of a WWE main roster call-up. The 23-year-old standout impressed with her performance in the 2025 Women’s Royal Rumble, and reports confirm she’s been on WWE’s radar for a major move.

According to Fightful Select, WWE has been eyeing Perez for the main roster since early January, with sources saying it was “just a matter of time”. While there’s no official date set, her strong showing at the Royal Rumble suggests her NXT run is nearing its end.

A WWE main roster source noted that Perez has been “ready for the main roster from a performance perspective for a long time”. With WrestleMania 41 season underway, her official call-up seems imminent.

As we noted earlier, Roxanne now holds the record for the most time spent in a single Women’s Royal Rumble match: 1 Hour & 7 Minutes. She was the last woman eliminated from the match, by the eventual winner: Charlotte Flair.

• Jey Uso shocked the world by winning the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble match by eliminating John Cena in the end. After the match, Jey said the following during an interview with Jackie Redmond:

“I bet y’all ain’t see that coming. There’s another thing coming you ain’t gon’ see coming though Uce – me main eventing WrestleMania and becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion.”

Later during the Royal Rumble post show, Jey said he’d like to face Gunther for the World Title one more time:

“I would like one more crack at Gunther, and I really feel like I can beat Gunther.”

PWNexus reported the following about Jey’s big win:

“Jey Uso was the planned Men’s Royal Rumble winner going as far back as the beginning of January, maybe even a little further to December.”
