Update On Rumors Of AJ Styles Returning To TNA This Sunday

The TNA Slammiversary 2025 PPV will take place this Sunday night and this event could feature the return of “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles. TNA President Carlos Silva tweeted the following to promote this pay-per-view: “We’re moving the stage back to accommodate more fans. This event will be TNA’s greatest achievement and trust me it’s going to be PHENOMENAL.”

The use of the word “Phenomenal” in the tweet has begun speculation about Styles’ return to the company. Styles’ final TNA appearance was in January 2014 (which was taped in December 2013).

Fueling the rumors further, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select directly asked Silva about the possibility of Styles returning. Though Silva didn’t confirm anything outright, he emphasized how “phenomenal” the evening would be and seemed to enjoy playing into the speculation, leaving fans even more intrigued.

Efforts to get a clear answer from sources within TNA have largely come up empty. However, at least one insider hinted that all these teases would be quite a misstep if they didn’t ultimately lead to an appearance by Styles.

PWInsider later reported that there have been internal discussions about the possibility of Styles showing up at Slammiversary.

Whether or not AJ Styles walks through the curtain at Slammiversary remains to be seen. But if he does, it would mark his first TNA appearance in 11 years and would no doubt be a momentous occasion for the promotion – and for fans eager to see one of wrestling’s most respected talents return to his old stomping grounds.

AJ Styles is currently involved in a feud with Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship on WWE RAW. They are scheduled to have their title match at SummerSlam 2025.
