Old School Wrestling fans have been waiting for Sting to return to WWE TV and get involved in a storyline.
There were plans for Sting to return at Battleground to help Roman Reigns against Bray Wyatt, but that plan was dropped.
After Battleground, reports came out that Sting would return for a match at SummerSlam 2015. He was supposed to be involved in 6 man tag team match, where he would team up with Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns to face the team of Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper & a mystery partner (as Eric Rowan is injured).
However, WWE has already made Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper official for SummerSlam 2015. This means that Sting might not be returning for SummerSlam after all.
According to latest reports, the reason behind WWE not bringing Sting back for SummerSlam is that the PPV is already sold out due to the huge blockbuster match between Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker. WWE is planning to bring Sting back for Night of Champions PPV next month, so that the WWE Network buys can have a good number in September as well. He would probably be involved in the “Family vs. Family” feud between Ambrose/Reigns & Wyatt/Harper.
