Below are some top WWE news stories of the day:

– According to insider source BWE, WWE Officials were very excited for the reaction that The Rock got for his surprise return on SmackDown.

His return received over 100 million views across all Social Media platforms.

There’s a lot of speculation going on that WWE might be doing Roman Reigns vs. The Rock instead of Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes II at WrestleMania 40 in 2024, as Rock said on The Pat McAfee Show that this match was originally planned for WrestleMania 39 and he’d be open to doing it next year if the story WWE comes up with is unprecedented.

BWE reports that Triple H and The Rock had a meeting backstage to discuss story options, but they didn’t reach any agreement.

As of this writing, Cody is still the top choice to face Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 40 – Night 2, for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

– Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns is being advertised for the October 27th episode of SmackDown. He will likely return to TV before that, as he is scheduled to have a match at Crown Jewel on November 4th, which is rumored to be against AJ Styles.

The Tribal Chief was last seen on WWE programming on the August 11th episode of SmackDown.

– This week’s NXT drew 850,000 viewers with a 0.26 rating in the 18-49 demo, which is up from last week’s 673,000 viewers with a 0.18 rating.

According to Wrestlenomics, NXT had 927,000 viewers (0.28 rating in the 18-49 demo) tuned in at the start of the main event, which was Tiffany Stratton vs. Becky Lynch for the NXT Women’s Championship. This was a 14% total viewership boost and 6% increase in the key demo from the previous quarter.

The match went 8 minutes past 10 PM, and the numbers for that overrun stretch were 1.06 million viewers and a 0.31 rating.
