Below are some top WWE news stories of the day, involving Cody Rhodes and Omos.

• WWE is reportedly more than pleased with Cody Rhodes’ reign as the Undisputed WWE Champion, with WrestleVotes describing the company as “extremely happy” with Rhodes’ performance in his role.

Rhodes, who captured the championship after a long, personal journey to reach the top, has quickly earned favor with fans and WWE executives alike. His success in this position echoes the legacy of John Cena, who similarly represented WWE as a “white meat babyface” during his career peak.

Cody’s reign is reportedly secure for the foreseeable future, as WWE has no immediate plans to have him drop the title. According to sources, WWE believes Rhodes possesses the qualities to carry the torch in a way reminiscent of Cena’s era. With his relatable storylines, athleticism, and dedication to WWE’s vision, Rhodes has solidified himself as a top-tier performer who can resonate with a wide fan base.

Since returning to WWE, Rhodes has embraced his role as the top babyface, frequently engaging with fans, supporting company events, and proving his loyalty to WWE’s brand of storytelling. WWE’s investment in his journey has paid off with the championship reign that Rhodes is currently enjoying, and the long-term plan appears to be for him to continue in this high-profile position for the foreseeable future.

• During an interview on The Undertaker’s podcast, Omos said a match against Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker will be special and similar to his match against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 39.

However, the 7-foot-3 giant thinks WWE needs to build Breakker up more before that match happens.

Here’s what The Nigerian Giant said:

“My personal opinion, and maybe you can agree or disagree with me, I think [he might need] some more building him to that point because I just remember wrestling Brock last year. I think people are going to expect that, but I think Brock had so much equity that he made sense and I think before you put him with me, you want to give him a lot more equity first.

So that way people feel like he’s on top of the world like he’s gone through everybody, he’s become the unstoppable machine that he is, and they say, ‘What are you going to do with a giant?’ That makes for an even better story overall.”

Omos has been in 22 matches in 2024 (from January to April), but only two of them were televised – the Men’s Royal Rumble match and the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
