• Update On When John Cena Agreed To Work WrestleMania 42

John Cena’s return to WWE TV as the Host of WrestleMania 42 was a surprise move that even he didn’t see coming just a few months ago.

While Cena retired from the ring last December after losing to Gunther, he recently signed a new five-year ambassador deal with WWE. However, being the host of the Show of Shows in Las Vegas wasn’t part of that original agreement.

As of December, there were zero plans for Cena to host. He only learned about the idea in February and agreed to it shortly after, according to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select.

The main reason WWE pivoted to Cena is reportedly due to ticket sales. With attendance for WrestleMania 42 trailing behind last year’s record-breaking numbers, the company brought in their biggest star to help fill Allegiant Stadium.

Don’t expect to see the classic denim shorts. Cena has stated that in his new retired role, he’ll likely be wearing a suit and tie as he handles the hosting duties.

Speaking of Cena, he will also appear on The Undertaker’s live taping of the Six Feet Under podcast at WWE World on April 18, before Night 1 of WrestleMania 42.

• Major Update On Chris Jericho’s AEW Future After Return On Dynamite

Chris Jericho’s return to AEW this week was a last-minute operation designed to keep his comeback a total secret. After months of rumors about a possible move back to WWE, the former AEW World Champion made a surprise appearance on the April 1 episode of Dynamite in his hometown of Winnipeg. Almost no one backstage knew he was there until the show was about to start.

Jericho didn’t spend the day at the arena. Instead, he was driven directly into the building just two minutes before the broadcast began and went straight to the Gorilla Position.

According to PWInsider, the general consensus among the locker room is that Jericho has officially signed a new contract with All Elite Wrestling, ending the speculation about his free agency.

After his segment in the ring, Jericho stayed to film more content and do a photo shoot. He also spent time walking around backstage, introducing himself to some of the newer wrestlers on the roster he hadn’t met yet.
