Below are some top WWE news stories of the day.

• In the opening segment of last night’s RAW, CM Punk and Seth Rollins brawled. It was then announced that Punk vs. Rollins will take place on RAW’s debut episode on Netflix on January 6.

Former WWF/WCW writer Vince Russo noted that the USA Network muted ‘Netflix’ in a backstage segment, as USA Network officials are not happy with WWE promoting Netflix on their network.

Here’s what Russo said on the Legion of RAW podcast:

“So here you got USA Network, and WWE is making this an infomercial on January 6 on Netflix. I’m pretty much confident that USA Network doesn’t want to drive fans to Netflix on Monday Night.

It’s very interesting because they have a brawl and what do you do? You come back, and you promote the match on Netflix. But something very interesting.

They go later on to the back, and Cathy Kelley says, ‘RAW premieres on Netflix’. They muted it. The USA Network muted Netflix. That speaks volumes. That tells you they are not happy with WWE making it a promotional show for Netflix.”

• Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Jon Moxley / Dean Ambrose, who debuted together in WWE as part of The Shield in 2012, have maintained a strong real-life bond despite their onscreen conflicts.

While their relationship has soured in WWE storylines, with Reigns and Rollins at odds, Rollins remains loyal to both Reigns and Moxley in real-life, with the trio continuing to share a close connection outside of wrestling.

This was confirmed by Sean Ross Sapp during a recent X / Twitter Space session.
