During a Q&A session at last weekend’s Steel City Con, WWE Hall Of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield talked about Michael Cole, who is working as a play-by-play commentator since 1997.

The former WWE Champion revealed that when Deuce (of the Tag Team Deuce & Domino) started to wrestle for the WWE during the late Ruthless Aggression Era, Cole was instructed by Vince McMahon not to mention Deuce’s famous father, WWF Legend ‘Superfly’ Jimmy Snuka, but ended up doing the one thing he was asked not to do.

Here’s what JBL had to say about the incident:

“Vince’s response was, ‘Michael, I’m gonna come down there and I’m gonna fire you. No, I’m gonna come down there and I’m gonna kick your a$$, No, I’m not’.

He’s debating with himself at this point and he goes, ‘No, no, no, no, no, no. I’m gonna kick your a$$ and then I’m going to fire you. That’s what I’m gonna do. I’m coming down right now’.”

WWE eventually started to acknowledge Deuce as Jimmy Snuka’s son during the early PG era and changed his name to ‘Sim Snuka’.
